After seven and half years of service, the satellite communication room was a real mess. We faced satellite transition and change of equipment from Ku band to C band, we faced several changes in the UDLR network. We also had some changes in the computer side.

Equipment has been piling up, unused cables were laying on the floor, the floor itself could not be seen any more, nor even cleaned up. Every time I accessed the rack cabinet, I was sure to disconnect some piece of equipment, stepping on a cable that I should not have disturbed.

So it was time for some cleaning.

Equipment is now separated between two rooms and two rack cabinets: one for the computing equipment, including routers, and one for the communication equipment, including PC based receivers.

Connection panel for IF and L coaxial cables

This panel is made of a standard rack shelf that has been mounted vertically. It is installed at the back of the rack.

IF DIV and COMB are mounted with square brackets.

The L band splitter is bolted to the panel.
