dc.description.abstract This thesis proposes a framework as an extension to an access control markup language (XACML) to be able to handle and utilize spatial/temporal information at its best. The information is associated to subj ects that request access to the system. The framework is implemented based on XML Declarative Description (XDD) using XML Equivalent Transformation (XET) as a tool for programming. Evaluation process is done by comparing the propos ed framework with two prominent implementations; Sun’s XACML impl ementation and Parthenon’s XACML Evaluation Engine. A hospital related scenar io is chosen for building a prototype.
