dc.description.abstract Web services technology is the latest techno logy in the application developm ent. They provide new business opportunities due to many a dvantages such as inte roperability, just–in time integration and wide industry support. Software patterns are mechanism to document and share design solution in devel oping software. Since the Web se rvices have its own features and standards, it is not useful to rely on the existing software patterns and development methodology. In this study Web services patterns are identified and illustrated as well as methodology to develop web services based on patterns is described. The proposed methodology covers overall lifecycle of deve lopment. This methodology covers analysis, design, implementation, testing and publishing pha ses. It is based on Web services patterns along with modeling techniques an d framework to design servic e implementation. This helps in effective creation of Web services. The proposed methodology is used to develop We b services in the QandA teaching/Learning system. They are tested by client application for correctness and validity. This study also shows transition from traditional Web application to Web services based application.
