dc.description.abstract There has been tremendous growth in the volume of document in the internet. The need for efficient document classification with dimension reduction was identified. This research proposes the modified Gram Schmidt algorithm for classification with dimension reduction and evaluate the results with commonly know algorithm like Centroid based algorithm and Latent semantic indexing (LSI). Also to measure the efficiency of the algorithm, modified Gram-Schmidt based training set is experimented on centroid using Gram-Schmidt based training set and LSI using Gram-Schmidt based training set. The measurement was done on three different parameters like classification accuracy, time taken for execution and closeness of similarity with the corresponding training set. The result shows that classifier using modified Gram-Schmidt based training set performs better than other classifiers. The modified Gram-Schmidt based classifier is more efficient in terms of time and accuracy. The methodology presented here can be used for classification to the system that needs simple computation and fast response time. Also the proposed algorithm can be used for query answering and searching the documents. en_US
