Why AIT?

Our target student is a top graduate of a CS/CE/IT Bachelor's program. Due to the often somewhat limited software engineering experience in our prospective student pool, we need to cover the software engineering basics as well. However, we can cover the basics in abbreviated form, to allow us to focus more strongly on key technology. Our program in the AIT hands-on tradition will focus on software engineering technology, design methodologies, and practical skills that will improve our students' job prospects for working on enterprise applications.

There are several factors in favor of AIT:

Right now, technology for enterprise software development is in the midst of a shift towards large, complex, loosely-coupled distributed systems based on web services, called service-oriented architectures (SOA). All of the large players in the software industry, including Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, SAP, and Sun, have major SOA initiatives underway, and all have a significant presence in South and South-East Asia. Doing software development in this environment requires deep skills in distributed systems and object-oriented analysis and design that are currently offered by few universities in the region. AIT's goal is to become a regional leader in an area in which skilled workers are in high demand.
